Here’s the skinny on what I’ve eaten today. I have found a “cheat” – something to make life a little, tiny bit easier. It’s Whole Foods’ Naked Roast Beef and Naked Roast Turkey. It’s in the deli department and is what it says. No nightshades, no spices, no bad oils, no fillers, etc. Just cow or turkey that they roast plain right there in the store. Um…I guess I should say…thank you?
Apparently, low blood sugar is an issue for me so I’ve been directed to be sure I’m eating an afternoon snack (not usual for me – most days I skip lunch – not good people – not good) – so I’ve documented EVERYTHING GOING IN. Interesting, huh? (I know you all – you’re dying for me to chow on some Almond & Sea Salt Chocolove, aren’t you? So am I. WAHHHHHHH)
Breakfast:
Golden Cauliflower Soup (forgot to add in the coconut milk – but still delish); few bites of leftover chuck roast
Lunch:
Whole Foods’ Naked Turkey Breast; leftover roasted zucchini and onion; shredded carrots and beets with extra virgin olive oil and sea salt (worth splurging for good olive oil – simple pleasures…)
Afternoon Snack:
leftovers – forgot to write down exactly – SORRY – I’M JUST A LITTLE STRESSED OVER HERE BECAUSE I CAN’T EAT FOOD I WANT
Dinner:
Cilantro Lemon Chicken; steamed broccoli with olive oil and salt; butternut squash roasted with coconut oil and cinnamon
FOLLOW 30 PLUS DAYS OF MY AIP JOURNEY.
Me again! I’m probably going to be posting all over your AIP posts because: (1) I’m ridiculously opinionated and of course think everyone should feel privileged to hear what I have to say! kinda kidding 😉 (2) I’m doing the AIP myself and am in the reintroduction phases right now which take forever, by the way (mean of me to tell you this, but I was shocked by the amount of patience required for this whole process.) Anyway, one thing I think people underestimate is the emotional component of the AIP protocol, and there are actually 2 versions: Robb Wolf’s original version, which is no nightshades, dairy, eggs, nuts or seeds (including coffee and chocolate), and is recommended for only 30 days. Then there’s Paleo Mom’s which is significantly more restrictive (restricting seed spices, fruit, all caffeine, alcohol and NSAIDs) and recommended for longer duration. The Paleo Mom is awesome in many ways – she’s got so much information, but I think it’s a mistake to expand the AIP to this level. It’s simply too hard emotionally, and emotions cause flares too. (Anger and fear both cause me to flare during the AIP and I only did Robb Wolf’s version. I have rheumatoid arthritis.) So talk to your Doc, who sounds awesome, and see if you can lighten up a bit and do Robb’s version instead for just 30 days before reintroducing. It’s a good protocol and hits all the likely contenders: http://robbwolf.com/what-is-the-paleo-diet/meal-plans-shopping-guides/
I realize he might say NO, so if he does here are some websites to help you through: . One is my blog, which focuses on autoimmune disease and diet. The others do as well, so you can find lots of AIP recipes. Autoimmune-Paleo actually just came out with a cookbook:

Thanks for your info Eileen! I’m at the point right now where I’m ok with what my doc has prescribed for me, personally (as far as 60 days of AIP). Of course, that is always subject to change – so get back with me in another five days and we’ll see where I am! 🙂
I think people do AIP for different health reasons, and I have to say – I am in NO WAY encouraging people to do it my way, PaleoMom’s way, or anyone else’s way for that matter. My purpose is just to track my progress, share a few laughs and hopefully encourage someone else who’s going through it too. Mel at theclothesmakethegirl.com was a great help to me with her recipes and meal rundown as it’s easy for me to go brain dead thinking, “What in the world am I going to eat today?” So, it’s my desire to be helpful in return.
I’m looking forward to checking out your blog and your listed sites when I get a chance. I’m sure it will be very helpful to me on my journey.
XO
Jen
I LOVE your posts – both the information and the humor! I hope I didn’t come across as judgmental. I was just offering a lifeline, so to speak, if it gets too overwhelming. I’ll be reading your daily posts and imagine they’ll help me, too. So far, I’ve discovered I can’t have any nightshades, so a lot of straight paleo recipes no longer work, and the AIP ones always do. It’s nice to see how other people’s menu choices play out – breaks me out of my rut.
Thanks! The AIP is overwhelming no matter what (at least to some degree) but it has gotten better for me. I’ve been doing SCD for the last two years (almost) as it is, so I’m used to being in the kitchen. I miss nightshades most of all, (Ok and dairy too) but it has simplified my life in many ways too. I’m not baking as much. No offense taken at all! I like/need menu choices as well because I tend to get bored a lot.
Thanks for your input-
XO
